I would like to discuss the growing use of composites in architecture. Looking for other applications of composite materials in automotive and aerospace industry I came across a large number of architectural applications and an increasing use of it. Among the singular points which provide composites, are: lightness and strength, excellent surface finish, no maintenance, fatigue resistance, handling them in work and maximum design freedom, the behavior of the composites to competing steel and concrete. In turn, these new materials get made no aesthetic finishes antes.A Here I use a recent case in Madrid and the Reina Sofía Museum extension. In this case we have used a polymer matrix of polyester and glass fiber reinforcement with a layer of self-extinguishing polyester resin orthophthalic that the conditions required fire protection
